We Caught us a Big One: Well, it was a Fish
Mon. November 9, 2009 at 01:20 AM
There are lots of things to do in Elkins Lake including fishing. So, those of you who may have thought the title was a type of metaphor--well, it's literal. (Except for the part about the fish being big)
Elkins Lake is nestled in the middle of the Sam Houston National Forest and it is gorgeous.
This video was taken while we were fishing on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Sorry in advance about the squealing--turn your sound down--I was excited, what can I say.

Elkins Lake Real Estate--After 29 moves--I Think I am Finally Home
Sun. November 8, 2009 at 11:35 PM
Elkins Lake is my favorite neighborhood ever. I have counted the number of times I have moved--the count, an embarrassing 29. I am 46 years old and I am not running from the law, nor am I in the witness protection program. Why so many moves? Just life I guess. Born in PA, undergrad in Wilkes-Barre PA, Masters in Greensboro, NC, SC, then TX and a lots of moves in between.
What does Elkins Lake have to offer? 3 private lakes (with fish--that you can catch), 2 pools, 2 playgrounds, lighted tennis courts, hoops (basketball variety) and lots of deer and other wildlife and GOLF!
And the golf is FREE! One HOA fee and no green fees. There's also a clubhouse and restaurant to enjoy with two (2) Happy Hours a week. By the way, no minimum at the clubhouse restaurant per year either. You just go cause it's good -- and there are half price drinks Tuesday and Friday for residents.
Free Golf, fishing and happy hours--I mean, do I even need to go on? Ahhh...and here's the chair...

Huntsville TX Real Estate--True Value for your Dollar
Sun. November 8, 2009 at 11:06 PM
Huntsville TX is a town of 35,000 about an hour north of Houston on I-45. It was founded in 1835 and was the home of Sam Houston. (We have the statue to prove it)
This is quite the imposing vista travelling north or south on I-45 in Huntsville. At night, it looks as though he is glowing in the dark. (no extra charge)
My husband and I used to live on the outskirts of Ft Worth. Don't get me wrong --I loved Ft Worth and all it had to offer. What I love about Huntsville, though is that life here is simple. It's simpler. Life is just simpler. It takes just a few minutes to get to the grocery store or to the mall. Now, the mall isn't a big mall, mind you, but it has the necessities. We are nestled here in the middle of Sam Houston National forest. The air is easier to breathe, traffic jams consist of less than 50 cars, and the police blotter doesn't read like an episode of CSI.
I am sitting on the porch just "a...

It's a Beautiful Sunset Tonight
Tue. October 20, 2009 at 12:24 AM
Ah...the wonders of working in a home office. Coffee, made at home, tea with fresh rosemary and mint and the view from my porch just outside my office. It sure is pretty!
There are so many "perks" to working from a home office. This, along with the commute time, is one of the best perks.
Have you taken time to appreciate beauty today? It feeds my soul. I was reminded this past weekend that it is so important to take the time for yourself every now and then. Sometimes we just need to "breathe." Ahhhhhh.....Real Estate is alright!Mari Montgomery

The Red River Rivalry--What a Game--Let's Hear it for Friendly Competition!
Sun. October 18, 2009 at 05:00 AM
The Red River Rivalry--What a Game!
I really try to not get political--and believe me--in this area of Texas--Football is definitely political. No one, however can dispute how hard each side fought--Oklahoma and Texas. The Texas coach-Mack Brown, is always so gracious and supportive of his kids. He always seems to remember just that--they are kids. (Goddness knows they look younger to me every year!) I think Mack Brown is a class act.
Texas A&M is not only political in this area---it's a religion. Our house is dark red A&M brick, selected by the couple who built it as A&M Brick. There are so many A&M red cars around here too.
College sports is such a wonderful expression of competition and teach our young people discipline, empower them with a sense of accomplishment and teach them innumerable life lessons. I know there may be arguments to the contrary, but no one can dispute that when young people are involved in...

Write on Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fri. October 2, 2009 at 06:16 AM
Write on!!!
Write what you wanna write about, when you wanna write about it. Readers may choose to read or not to read, that is not EVEN the question. This truth is really self evident.
Blogging is one of those things that is still being defined and will continue to be because of its very nature. The medium will not stand still long enough to be defined.
Who knows what is the right or wrong kind of blog?
Are keywwords the golden calf?
Is it worth the time to just express yourself?
Keywords are important if that, indeed is your only mission. (Lake Conroe Real Estate, Lake Livingston Real Estate Huntsville tx homes for sale,Huntsville tx realtors, lake Conroe real estate,Huntsville tx Real Estate, Conroe real estate,) Oh, but I digress.
I don't know. I am kinda puzzled to be honest. I really like to blog and am not really sure if I am "doing it right."
I do like it here "in the rain." Members of the Rain and the blogging world--Thanks...
