Texas Real Estate: Obama Care and the new Real Estate Tax--the REAL deal
Sun. October 7, 2012 at 02:31 PM
Our legislative branch of government speaks in circles at best mos of the time. It's not a surprise that so much confusion surrounds this issue. Re: OBAMA-CARE as it pertains to the new Real Estate Tax that will become effective in 2013. Although this is a piece of legislation from March 30, 2010, it just made it to my email box the other day from a client. I bet you've received it too. My clients wrote to me to ask, "Mari, is this true??" Basically, the email that is circulating says that starting in 2013 a 3.8% tax will be levied on ALL Real Estate transactions. What is the truth? For the answer, I went directly to the "Public Law 111-152 H R. 4872" dated March 30, 2010. Please, take a look for yourselves.... PUBLIC LAW 111-152 [H.R. 4872] MAR. 30, 2010 HEALTH CARE AND EDUCATION RECONCILIATION ACT OF 2010 Sec. 1402. UNEARNED INCOME MEDICARE CONTRIBUTION. (a) Investment Income.-- (1) In general.-- Subtitle A of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting after chapter 2 the following new chapter: CHAPTER 2A--UNEARNED INCOME MEDICARE CONTRIBUTION "Sec. 1411. Imposition of tax. "Sec. 1411. IMPOSITION OF TAX. "(a) In General.--Except as provided in subsection (e)-- "(1) Application to individuals.-- In the case of an individual, there is hereby imposed (in addition to any other tax imposed by this subtitle) for each taxable year a tax equal to 3.8 percent of the lesser of-- "(A) net investment income for such taxable year, or "(B) the excess (if any) of-- "(i) the modified adjusted gross income for such taxable year, over "(ii) the threshold amount. "(2) Application to estates and trusts.-- In the case of an estate or trust, there is hereby imposed (in addition to any other tax imposed by this subtitle) for each taxable year a tax of 3.8 percent of the lesser of- - "(A) the undistributed net investment income for such...

HELP---It's a Cloaked Twitter Attack!!
Fri. October 5, 2012 at 12:21 PM
QUESTION: Would You Build a Successful Business and Then Allow a Random Person with NO Vested Interest Have Access to the "RED" Button? The RED Button meaning the figurative switch that could be detonated and destroy everything you've built. (That would be dependent only if you believe if "you built it" or not) Here is the simple truth in bottom line format: Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets are relatively VERY new on our landscape. Let's face it, mainstream internet was "dial-up" and "pay per minute" as recently as the late 90's. Most successful business owners (certainly not all) were likely to have been born PRIOR to the late nineties---- making the chance that they had "toddler laptops" with wifi access "slim to none" at best. One of the main tenants of business followed by a successful business person is...

Tuna Salad a whole new way--doesn't sound fishy to me
Thu. October 4, 2012 at 05:07 PM
Recipe Alert! Okay, for lunch today I tried something new. I decided I wanted tuna salad, but a new kind of creation. Here goes: -1 can well-drained can of tuna -very finely chopped onion-about 1/8 cup -montreal steak seasoning--just a dash -balsamic vinegar-about 2 TB -parsley-dried or fresh -mayonnaise-about 2 TB or so (to your taste) -garlic powder-dash -few red pepper flakes stir-place on Mrs. Baird's Bread (or any good white bread) add romaine lettuce--YUMMMMMMMMMM! It is really amazing to me how tasty and how different it tastes than normal tuna salad. Try it--I think you'll really like it! Elkins Lake Real Estate--I love, love, love my porch
Thu. September 27, 2012 at 03:47 PM
I love, love, love my porch. It is where my husband and I watch the world go by. It's where we take our laptops and work, and where I play a lot of sudoku and maybe a glass of wine. When we moved to Huntsville TX from west of Fort Worth, I told my husband, "what I want in Huntsville TX Real estate is a porch." I want to sit out when it rains and not get wet. (Moving from west of Fort Worth, I just wanted it to rain!) I sure did get my wish. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world--4 covered porches! Colonial homes rock! Where is it that you like to sit and relax? Is it outdoors in indoors? Do you have wildlife in your neighborhood? We have deer. Some people hate them because they eat the plants. I think they are SO cute. We live in a subdivision called Elkins Lake in Huntsville TX. We love it! Mari Montgomery Realtor, GRI, QSC Multi Million Dollar Producer Readers...

Married 63 Years and Counting--Their First Kiss, At a Gravesite?
Wed. September 19, 2012 at 11:03 PM
Born in July 1927. The beautiful baby is my Mother-in-Law, Jenny Harrington Montgomery. What a great photo. It is shocking to me that within a generation, no one will have a concept of how complicated early photography was. Ain't she a beautiful baby! The year, 1926 The baby, my Father-in-Law, Melvin B Montgomery What a great photo. He had no idea that he was going to meet and marry the pretty baby above. But, marry they did and have been for 63 years. Now, that's what I call an attention span. Now, the story of their first kiss. It's really cool. They have come full circle. They met in college in Huntsville TX in the 40's when Sam Houston State University was Sam Houston State Teacher's College. Enjoy this. Enjoy family, enjoy our "seasoned" population. There is so much wisdom. If we do not listen, we lose.
